45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Texans everywhere are indebted to the men and women
67 of the law enforcement profession, for by their selfless devotion
78 to the public welfare, they enable us to enjoy the benefits of a
89 peaceful and orderly society; and
910 WHEREAS, Too seldom recognized, and sometimes taken for
1011 granted by the public they so faithfully serve, these gallant
1112 individuals daily risk their lives in order to ensure domestic
1213 tranquility and to protect the lives and property of others; and
1314 WHEREAS, Senior Police Officer Amir Abdul-Khaliq Jr. of the
1415 Austin Police Department exemplified in his personal and
1516 professional conduct the singular virtues of courage, integrity,
1617 and steadfast resolve, and throughout his 17 years on the force, his
1718 meritorious service embodied the highest ideals of his vocation;
1819 and
1920 WHEREAS, Killed in the line of duty on September 4, 2016,
2021 Officer Abdul-Khaliq will long be missed by his family, his fellow
2122 peace officers, and the entire community; and
2223 WHEREAS, Though his life ended far too soon, Officer
2324 Abdul-Khaliq left behind a record of public service that is
2425 deserving of his fellow citizens' lasting respect and gratitude;
2526 now, therefore, be it
2627 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
2728 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Senior Police Officer
2829 Amir Abdul-Khaliq Jr. and extend deepest sympathy to his relatives,
2930 friends, and fellow officers; and, be it further
3031 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3132 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3233 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Senior
3334 Police Officer Amir Abdul-Khaliq Jr.
