| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Too seldom recognized, and sometimes taken for |

| 10 | 11 | | granted by the public they so faithfully serve, these gallant |

| 11 | 12 | | individuals daily risk their lives in order to ensure domestic |

| 12 | 13 | | tranquility and to protect the lives and property of others; and |

| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Senior Police Officer Amir Abdul-Khaliq Jr. of the |

| 14 | 15 | | Austin Police Department exemplified in his personal and |

| 15 | 16 | | professional conduct the singular virtues of courage, integrity, |

| 16 | 17 | | and steadfast resolve, and throughout his 17 years on the force, his |

| 17 | 18 | | meritorious service embodied the highest ideals of his vocation; |

| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Killed in the line of duty on September 4, 2016, |

| 20 | 21 | | Officer Abdul-Khaliq will long be missed by his family, his fellow |

| 21 | 22 | | peace officers, and the entire community; and |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Though his life ended far too soon, Officer |

| 23 | 24 | | Abdul-Khaliq left behind a record of public service that is |

| 24 | 25 | | deserving of his fellow citizens' lasting respect and gratitude; |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 27 | 28 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Senior Police Officer |
