45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Hausman Foods in Corpus Christi has long
67 distinguished itself through its significant contributions to the
78 local community; and
89 WHEREAS, This notable Texas company was founded in 1939 by
910 Sam Hausman; what began as a small family enterprise of four
1011 employees, including Mr. Hausman's wife, Fannie, has since grown to
1112 include a staff of some 120 workers across three local processing
1213 facilities, and today the award-winning business provides a wide
1314 range of meat products to customers around the globe; and
1415 WHEREAS, After the passing of Mr. Hausman in 1958,
1516 his son-in-law David Holliday assumed control of the business, and
1617 in the late 1960s, he in turn handed over the reins to his sons Rick
1718 and Steve, who served as president and vice president,
1819 respectively, until retiring in 2005; the company has since
1920 benefited from the able leadership of the
2021 founder's great-grandchildren Amy Seward and Jerry Simpson; and
2122 WHEREAS, Locally owned and operated businesses play a vital
2223 role in the prosperity of the Lone Star State, and those enterprises
2324 that build a record of dependability and longevity enjoy a special
2425 degree of esteem in their communities; now, therefore, be it
2526 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
2627 Legislature hereby commend Hausman Foods on its many decades of
2728 service to the Corpus Christi community and extend to the company's
2829 ownership and staff sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
2930 further
3031 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3132 prepared for the business as an expression of high regard by the
3233 Texas House of Representatives.
