5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Hausman Foods in Corpus Christi has long |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, This notable Texas company was founded in 1939 by |

9 | 10 | | Sam Hausman; what began as a small family enterprise of four |

10 | 11 | | employees, including Mr. Hausman's wife, Fannie, has since grown to |

11 | 12 | | include a staff of some 120 workers across three local processing |
---|
12 | 13 | | facilities, and today the award-winning business provides a wide |
---|
13 | 14 | | range of meat products to customers around the globe; and |
---|
14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, After the passing of Mr. Hausman in 1958, |
---|
15 | 16 | | his son-in-law David Holliday assumed control of the business, and |
---|
16 | 17 | | in the late 1960s, he in turn handed over the reins to his sons Rick |
---|
17 | 18 | | and Steve, who served as president and vice president, |
---|
18 | 19 | | respectively, until retiring in 2005; the company has since |
---|
19 | 20 | | benefited from the able leadership of the |
---|
20 | 21 | | founder's great-grandchildren Amy Seward and Jerry Simpson; and |

21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Locally owned and operated businesses play a vital |

22 | 23 | | role in the prosperity of the Lone Star State, and those enterprises |

23 | 24 | | that build a record of dependability and longevity enjoy a special |

24 | 25 | | degree of esteem in their communities; now, therefore, be it |

25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby commend Hausman Foods on its many decades of |

27 | 28 | | service to the Corpus Christi community and extend to the company's |

28 | 29 | | ownership and staff sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
