| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Gaylon Clark, pastor of Greater Mount Zion Baptist |

| 6 | 7 | | Church in Austin, is serving as Pastor of the Day for the Texas |

| 7 | 8 | | House of Representatives on May 23, 2017; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Pastor Clark earned a bachelor's degree in biblical |

| 9 | 10 | | studies from Dallas Baptist University in 1989, and he went on to |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | receive a master's degree in theology, with an emphasis in pastoral |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | ministries, from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1996; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, For the past 16 years, this respected clergyman has |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | served as the lead pastor of Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church, and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | under his guidance, the congregation has grown to include more than |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | 3,000 members; during his outstanding tenure, the church has |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | launched a small-group ministry, adopted a number of social justice |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | causes, taken part in building a medical clinic in Kenya, and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | expanded to include a new worship center, which was completed in |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | November 2016; and |

| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Pastor Clark has been |

| 21 | 22 | | blessed with the love and support of his wife of nearly three |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | decades, Kathy, and he is the proud father of a son, Michael; and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Since first entering the ministry, Pastor Gaylon |

| 24 | 25 | | Clark has inspired countless Texans with his message of grace and |

| 25 | 26 | | goodwill, and it is a pleasure to welcome him to this chamber; now, |
