| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, In a heartwarming gesture of kindness and support, |

| 7 | 8 | | sandwiches to be given to firefighters who were battling the recent |

| 8 | 9 | | wildfires in the Texas Panhandle; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Sawyer and Shelby Bocanegra, Brittan |

| 10 | 11 | | was deeply saddened by stories of the devastating fires in that |

| 11 | 12 | | region; after learning that her uncle would be taking supplies to |

| 12 | 13 | | people affected by the disaster, this caring young girl decided to |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | make her own contribution to the donations that were being |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | collected from the community; and |

| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Brittan was joined in this endeavor by her |

| 16 | 17 | | two-year-old brother, Westin; the siblings, whose grandfather is a |

| 17 | 18 | | retired firefighter and whose uncle worked for the Texas A&M Forest |

| 18 | 19 | | Service, hold in high regard the heroes who risk their lives to |

| 19 | 20 | | protect others, and they enclosed a hand-drawn sign reading "Thank |

| 20 | 21 | | You for Saving Texas" along with the cooler that they had filled |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Through her effort to uplift firefighters |

| 23 | 24 | | performing difficult and dangerous work, Brittan has demonstrated |

| 24 | 25 | | compassion and maturity beyond her years, and she is a source of |

| 25 | 26 | | pride to all who know her; now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 27 | 28 | | Legislature hereby commend Brittan Brock for making sandwiches for |
