| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of Aurora |

| 6 | 7 | | Hinojosa Longoria of Mission, who passed away on January 2, 2017, at |

| 7 | 8 | | the age of 92; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The former Aurora Hinojosa was born to Aurora and |

| 9 | 10 | | Amador Hinojosa on August 12, 1924, in Mission, where she grew up |

| 10 | 11 | | with her two brothers, Amador and Aaron, and her sister, Viola; she |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | went on to graduate as a member of the Mission High School Class of |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | 1942; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan exchanged the vows of matrimony |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | with Joe Longoria in 1945; the couple raised their four children, |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Joe, David, Raymond, and Lillian, while living in Elsa, where |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Mrs. Longoria gave generously of her time and talents as a Head |

| 17 | 18 | | Start director and Cub Scout leader; they moved back to Mission in |

| 18 | 19 | | 1968, and with the passing years, Mrs. Longoria watched her |

| 19 | 20 | | treasured family grow to include her 10 grandchildren, Melissa, |

| 20 | 21 | | Michael, Eric, Bobby, David, Daniel, Jacob, Stephanie, Stacie, and |

| 21 | 22 | | Christina, and 5 great-grandchildren, Ansel, Lunita, Zachary, |

| 22 | 23 | | Savannah, and Julia; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Known affectionately as "Gora," Mrs. Longoria had a |

| 24 | 25 | | way of making everyone feel like family by welcoming them into her |

| 25 | 26 | | home and preparing them wonderful meals and delicious margaritas; a |

| 26 | 27 | | woman of deep faith, she was a valued congregant of Our Lady of |

| 27 | 28 | | Guadalupe Catholic Church; in her spare time, she enjoyed cheering |

| 28 | 29 | | on her favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys; and |

| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Aurora Longoria enjoyed a life that was rich in the |

| 30 | 31 | | intangibles that matter most, and she is deeply missed by all who |

| 31 | 32 | | held her dear; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Aurora Hinojosa |

| 34 | 35 | | Longoria and extend sincere condolences to the members of her |

| 35 | 36 | | family and to her many friends; and, be it further |
