| 7 | 8 | | Marathon Challenge January 23 to 30, 2016; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A true test of endurance, the annual World Marathon |

| 9 | 10 | | Challenge requires participants to complete seven marathons on |

| 10 | 11 | | seven continents in seven days; the 2016 event led runners on an |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | exhausting 30,000-mile trip around the globe that began with a race |

| 12 | 13 | | in Union Glacier, Antarctica, and went on to include marathons in |

| 13 | 14 | | Chile, Spain, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, and |

| 14 | 15 | | Florida; and |

| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Despite having never run a marathon before embarking |

| 16 | 17 | | on the first leg of the journey, Representative Fallon was inspired |

| 17 | 18 | | to tackle this grueling feat as a tribute to Jonny Wade, an |

| 18 | 19 | | eight-year-old boy from Illinois who tragically passed away in 2015 |

| 19 | 20 | | following a courageous battle with brain cancer; because |

| 20 | 21 | | Representative Fallon covered all of the expenses he incurred while |

| 21 | 22 | | participating in the marathon, he was able to donate $77,777 to the |

| 22 | 23 | | Pediatric Cancer Foundation in Jonny's honor; and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, By finishing the World Marathon Challenge, |

| 24 | 25 | | Representative Pat Fallon not only earned his place among an elite |

| 25 | 26 | | group of athletes but also brought increased awareness to an |

| 26 | 27 | | important cause, and he may indeed take justifiable pride in these |

| 27 | 28 | | admirable achievements; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 29 | 30 | | Legislature hereby congratulate State Representative Pat Fallon on |

| 30 | 31 | | his completion of the 2016 World Marathon Challenge and commend him |

| 31 | 32 | | for his outstanding fund-raising work in behalf of pediatric cancer |
