| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The citizens of Mission lost a treasured community |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The former owner and operator of B&B Flowers and BP |

| 9 | 10 | | Feed Store, Bert Filut enjoyed nearly two decades leading the Texas |

| 10 | 11 | | Citrus Fiesta as its executive director; this esteemed Texan was |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | also a valued member of the Mission Lions Club, where she held the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | office of secretary and received both the Jack Wiech Fellow and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Melvin Jones Fellow awards; the Progress Times recognized her |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | outstanding contributions to the community by naming her Woman of |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | the Year; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, A woman of deep faith, Ms. Filut played an active |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | role in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, serving on its |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | finance committee and assuming responsibility for decorating the |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | altar each holiday; she also held membership in the Holy Rosary |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Catholic Church Society and Catholic Daughters of the Americas; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Ms. Filut was blessed with the |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | love and support of her husband, William "Bill" Filut, with whom she |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | shared a rewarding union until her passing; she took great pride in |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | her children, Vanessa Peña and Robert Peña Jr., and her |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | stepchildren, Richard and Michelle Filut; and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Bert Filut lived a purposeful life of faith and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | service, and those who were blessed to share in her love and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | affection will forever hold her close in their hearts; now, |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | therefore, be it |

| 30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 31 | 32 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Berta Hilda Olivarez |
