| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A federation of all Roman Catholic dioceses and |

| 9 | 10 | | ordinariates in Texas, the TCCB is dedicated to extending the |

| 10 | 11 | | ministry of the state's bishops within the church community; the |

| 11 | 12 | | organization encourages and fosters cooperation and communication |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | among the dioceses and church ministries; monitoring accreditation |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | of Catholic schools, the TCCB ensures academic quality and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | accountability to the bishops as well as to the Texas Education |

|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The TCCB also addresses matters of public policy, |

| 17 | 18 | | including institutional concerns of the church and issues related |

| 18 | 19 | | to moral and social doctrine; in addition, through the Catholic |

| 19 | 20 | | Archives of Texas, it collects and preserves for researchers the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | records of individuals and organizations engaged in work reflecting |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Dedicated to meeting the needs of more than 8.4 |

| 23 | 24 | | million Catholics in 15 dioceses, the TCCB supports a wide variety |

| 24 | 25 | | of outreach efforts; these include Catholic Respect Life programs, |

| 25 | 26 | | Catholic Family Life Ministries, the chaplaincy, and parochial |

| 26 | 27 | | schools and other religious education; moreover, the church |

| 27 | 28 | | maintains Catholic Charities ministries at more than 20 locations, |

| 28 | 29 | | and it offers tangible assistance to people of all races, |

| 29 | 30 | | religions, and socioeconomic backgrounds through the Society of |

| 30 | 31 | | St. Vincent de Paul and hundreds of parish-based social ministries; |

| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops makes a |
