| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The officers, staff, and stockholders of Lubbock |

| 6 | 7 | | National Bank are celebrating the 100th anniversary of its founding |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, In 1917, only eight years after the incorporation of |

| 9 | 10 | | the City of Lubbock, the bank was established by Charles E. Maedgen; |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | originally known as Security State Bank and Trust Co., it stood on |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | the corner of what is now Main Street and Texas Avenue; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The bank purchased Farmers' National Bank in 1920, |

| 13 | 14 | | and five years later, it adopted the name Lubbock National Bank; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Today, this venerable financial institution is led |

| 15 | 16 | | by board chair Roger Key, who is the grandson of the founder, along |

| 16 | 17 | | with president and CEO Eddie Schulz; Mr. Key is joined in the bank's |

| 17 | 18 | | management by his three brothers who remain active in the bank as |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | members of the board, including past president Terry Key, attorney |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Howard Key, and executive vice president Charles Key; the bank |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | boasts assets of $1 billion, and it has opened branches in Bryan, |

| 21 | 22 | | College Station, and Austin; and |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, For the past century, Lubbock National Bank has |

| 23 | 24 | | played a vital role in the prosperity of the Lubbock community and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | beyond, and it is truly deserving of special recognition on this |

| 25 | 26 | | important milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 27 | 28 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of Lubbock |
