| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Observed annually on April 30, El Día de los |

| 9 | 10 | | Niños/El Día de los Libros was founded by children's book author Pat |

| 10 | 11 | | Mora in 1997; the initiative, which was inspired by the Mexican |

| 11 | 12 | | tradition known as El Día del Niño, emphasizes the importance of |

| 12 | 13 | | literacy for children of all backgrounds and celebrates the |

| 13 | 14 | | diversity of cultures and languages in our communities; and |

| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, This year, the Nueces County Public Libraries are |

| 15 | 16 | | hosting a three-day event at the Keach Family Library from April 25 |

| 16 | 17 | | through April 27, featuring book giveaways and live performances, |

| 17 | 18 | | and the Bishop Branch Library will be holding a celebration on April |

| 18 | 19 | | 22 at the Bishop Senior Community Center; and |

| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, For two decades, El Día de los Niños/El Día de los |

| 20 | 21 | | Libros has made a positive difference in the lives of countless |

| 21 | 22 | | young Texans by fostering a greater love for learning, and the |

| 22 | 23 | | Nueces County Public Libraries are indeed worthy of recognition for |

| 23 | 24 | | their participation in this event; now, therefore, be it |

| 24 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 25 | 26 | | Legislature hereby commend the Nueces County Public Libraries on |

| 27 | 28 | | April 2017 and extend to all those involved sincere best wishes for |
