| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the compassion and |

| 6 | 7 | | kindness of Marc David Isenberg of Houston, who passed away on March |

| 7 | 8 | | 18, 2017, at the age of 68; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in Houston on January 10, 1949, Marc Isenberg |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | was the eldest son of Nathan and Esther Isenberg; an Eagle Scout, he |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | grew up in Galena Park and Galveston and later moved to Austin, |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | where he earned his degree in psychology from The University of |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Texas; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Isenberg graduated from the University of |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Houston College of Law in May 1974 and went on to practice for years |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | as a litigator and insurance defense attorney, but he found his true |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | passion representing juveniles in the justice system; he believed |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | strongly that minors were entitled to the best defense he could |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | provide, and outside the courtroom, he volunteered his time as a |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | speaker at schools to help young people understand their legal |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | rights and the legal consequences of their conduct; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Also known for his passion for adventure, |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Mr. Isenberg enjoyed traveling, scuba diving, fishing, cooking, |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | and learning to play the guitar, and some of his most exhilarating |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | experiences included hiking the Grand Canyon and skydiving; guided |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | by a strong sense of justice, he took a principled stand against |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | bullying and intolerance, and he modeled his oft-repeated maxim |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | that it costs nothing to be kind to people; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Beside him in all his endeavors was his wife and law |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | partner, Miriam Riskind; he also earned the affection of many loyal |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | friends, whom he referred to as his "band of brothers," and the |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | support and encouragement that he received from his loved ones was a |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | blessing to him during his battle with pancreatic cancer, which he |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | faced with characteristic courage, determination, and dignity; and |

| 34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his rewarding and accomplished life, |

| 35 | 36 | | Marc David Isenberg inspired others with his desire to make a |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | difference, and his memory will be forever cherished by his devoted |

| 37 | 38 | | family and friends; now, therefore, be it |

| 38 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 39 | 40 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Marc David Isenberg |

| 40 | 41 | | and extend sincere condolences to all those who mourn his passing; |
