H.R. No. 1319 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department has been honored with a 2017 Texas Arts and Humanities Programming Achievement Award by the Texas Recreation and Park Society; and WHEREAS, This prestigious award is given each year to individuals and organizations in the field of parks and recreation that have created innovative and effective programs promoting the arts and cultural activities; and WHEREAS, The Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department was recognized for the creation and distribution of its Public Art Collection Book, which features original photos and historical information highlighting each piece of art in the city's collection; the department also developed an ISpy public art tour and game to encourage children and families to search for art along a public transportation trolley route; since their inception, these two ongoing initiatives have enabled thousands of people to enjoy the 78 works of art currently in the city's public collection; and WHEREAS, The arts greatly enhance the quality of life in Texas, and by providing opportunities that encourage residents and visitors to learn more about art in the community, the Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department has contributed immeasurably to the cultural vitality of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department on its receipt of a 2017 Texas Arts and Humanities Programming Achievement Award from the Texas Recreation and Park Society and extend to all those associated with the department sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
