| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, June 18, 2017, marks the 40th wedding anniversary of |

| 6 | 7 | | Jeffrey and Marianne Johanns of Austin, and this joyous event |

| 7 | 8 | | provides a fitting opportunity to reflect on their rewarding |

| 8 | 9 | | journey together as husband and wife; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, After several years of courtship that began while |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | they were still in high school, Mr. and Mrs. Johanns exchanged the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | vows of matrimony at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Farmer City, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Illinois, in 1977; over the course of their marriage, they have been |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | blessed with a treasured family that includes their children, |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Katherine and Alex; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Valued residents of Austin for nearly two decades, |

| 16 | 17 | | Mr. Johanns retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in 2011 and |

| 17 | 18 | | currently serves as a lecturer for The University of Texas at Austin |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | McCombs School of Business, and Mrs. Johanns has devoted herself to |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | her home and family throughout their marriage, in addition to |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | volunteering at her children's schools; this admirable couple also |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | established a scholarship at the University of Illinois, |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Mr. Johanns's alma mater, and they have supported such worthy |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | causes as the Rescue Mission of El Paso and Alley Cat Allies; and |

| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, The 40 years of marriage that Mr. and Mrs. Johanns |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | have shared is eloquent affirmation of the meaning of love and |

| 26 | 27 | | commitment, and their enduring union is an inspiration to all who |

| 27 | 28 | | know them; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 29 | 30 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Jeffrey and Marianne Johanns on |
