| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Butch |

| 6 | 7 | | Petty of Mount Pleasant, who passed away on March 28, 2017, at the |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of William and Anita Petty, Butch Petty was |

| 9 | 10 | | born on August 30, 1958, in Pittsburg, Texas, and he grew up with |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | the companionship of a sister, Tina; he graduated from Mount |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Pleasant High School in 1976 and went on to enjoy a rewarding career |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | as a technician at the Mount Pleasant Regional Airport; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mr. Petty served as a |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | volunteer firefighter in Mount Pleasant for more than 20 years |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | before taking a position as chief of the 5-Star Volunteer Fire |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Department; he was also a longtime member of the Church of the |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Nazarene in Mount Pleasant; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Petty shared four decades of marriage with his |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | beloved wife, Della, and over the years, their family grew to |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | include two sons, Ashley Petty and his wife, Selena Pack, and Joey |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Petty and his wife, Summer, as well as two granddaughters, Kayleigh |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | and Tayler; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Butch Petty led a caring and purposeful life |

| 24 | 25 | | centered on his family, his faith, and his community, and those who |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | were fortunate enough to know him will forever hold him close in |

| 26 | 27 | | their hearts; now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 28 | 29 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Butch Petty and |

| 29 | 30 | | extend sincere condolences to his relatives and many friends; and, |
