45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Wrestler Hadesther Quezada of Roy Miller High School
67 in Corpus Christi enjoyed a successful 2016-2017 season, advancing
78 all the way to the Class 5A state contest in the 102-pound weight
89 division at the University Interscholastic League State
910 Tournament, held February 24-25, 2017, at the Berry Center in
1011 Cypress; and
1112 WHEREAS, A first-year wrestler, junior Hadesther Quezada
1213 distinguished herself throughout the season, displaying great
1314 strength and natural talent; in the District 15 championship match,
1415 she triumphed over Daniela Perez of Beeville High School in an 11-0
1516 decision, claiming the crown and becoming the first wrestler from
1617 Miller High to earn a district title in the sport; and
1718 WHEREAS, Ms. Quezada went on to secure another first-place
1819 victory at the regional level before advancing to the state
1920 contest, where she put up a determined effort but ultimately fell
2021 short, capping off a memorable season with an overall record of 37
2122 wins and only 10 losses; and
2223 WHEREAS, By excelling on the mat, Hadesther Quezada has
2324 garnered the admiration of her fellow students and her many
2425 supporters in the local community, and she may indeed reflect with
2526 pride on her notable achievements; now, therefore, be it
2627 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
2728 Legislature hereby congratulate Hadesther Quezada on a successful
2829 2016-2017 wrestling season and extend to her sincere best wishes
2930 for the future; and, be it further
3031 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3132 prepared for Ms. Quezada as an expression of high regard by the
3233 Texas House of Representatives.
