45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt at
67 the untimely death of Angelica P. Beard of Mount Pleasant, who
78 passed away on March 24, 2017, at the age of 30; and
89 WHEREAS, Born at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North
910 Carolina, on April 10, 1986, the former Angelica Reed was the
1011 daughter of Troy and Vivianna DeCohen; as a student at A. Philip
1112 Randolph Campus High School in New York City, she was a star athlete
1213 on the track team, and she went on to graduate from Southwestern
1314 Christian College in Terrell and Texas A&M University--Commerce;
1415 she realized one of her life's goals when she was hired to coach the
1516 girls' track team at Mt. Pleasant High School, and at the time of
1617 her passing, she was also employed as a physical education teacher
1718 at Corprew Elementary; and
1819 WHEREAS, A member of Zeta Phi Beta in college, Ms. Beard
1920 remained active in the sorority after her graduation and cherished
2021 the bonds that she shared with her fellow alumnae; deeply committed
2122 to her faith, she was also a valued member of the Sheppard Street
2223 Church of Christ in Mt. Pleasant; and
2324 WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Ms. Beard enjoyed the love and
2425 support of her husband, Anterius Beard; the couple became the
2526 devoted parents of twin boys, Terrance and Terrelle, and she also
2627 happily welcomed into her family Mr. Beard's two children, Anterius
2728 and Paris; and
2829 WHEREAS, Although the loss of this cherished wife, mother,
2930 and daughter brings tremendous heartache to her loved ones, they
3031 will forever remember the kindness, joy, and laughter that she
3132 brought into their lives; now, therefore, be it
3233 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
3334 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Angelica P. Beard
3435 and extend deepest condolences to the members of her family: to her
3536 husband, Anterius D. Beard Sr.; to her children, Terrance,
3637 Terrelle, Anterius, and Paris Beard; to her parents, Vivianna and
3738 Troy DeCohen; to her siblings, Chanelle Thomas and her husband,
3839 Charles, Micaela DeCohen, and Christopher Reed and his wife,
3940 Paulina; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further
4041 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4142 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4243 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Angelica
4344 Beard.
