| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Kilgore College Fire Academy hosted its 100th |

| 6 | 7 | | graduation ceremony on March 29, 2017; and |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1989 by Mike Earley and other area |

| 8 | 9 | | fire chiefs and officials, the academy is dedicated to equipping |

| 9 | 10 | | aspiring firefighters with the skills necessary to protect the |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | lives and property of their fellow citizens; in addition to its |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | robust basic firefighter training, the program offers courses for |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | certification in a range of specialized fields; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Recognized as an exemplary program by the State of |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Texas, the academy is accredited by the Texas Commission on Fire |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Protection and the State Firefighters' and Fire Marshals' |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Association of Texas and approved by the Texas Higher Education |

| 17 | 18 | | Coordinating Board; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The Kilgore College Fire Academy has produced some |

| 19 | 20 | | of the finest firefighters not only in East Texas but also across |

| 20 | 21 | | the Lone Star State and beyond, and this milestone presents a |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | fitting opportunity to recognize this outstanding institution; |

| 23 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 24 | 25 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Kilgore College Fire Academy on |

| 26 | 27 | | the program sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
