| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends were deeply saddened by the loss |

| 6 | 7 | | of Barbara Diane Madden of Richardson, who passed away on March 30, |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in Schenectady, New York, on November 15, 1942, |

| 9 | 10 | | the former Barbara Szumachowski was the daughter of Stephen and |

| 10 | 11 | | Bernice Szumachowski; she married Jerry Madden on June 20, 1965, in |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | a ceremony held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in her hometown; the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | devoted couple became the proud parents of a son, Jerry, and two |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | daughters, Stephanie and Kristina; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Madden was a nurse, and during her employment |

| 15 | 16 | | at Richardson General Hospital and Heritage Manor Nursing Home, she |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | demonstrated exceptional kindness and compassion to her patients; |

| 17 | 18 | | during her husband's two-decade tenure in the Texas House of |

| 18 | 19 | | Representatives, she was a source of steadfast support; she was |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | also a valued congregant of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church |

| 20 | 21 | | in Plano; above all, she was devoted to her family, which grew to |

| 21 | 22 | | include five grandchildren, Samantha, Alisa, Joey, Sarah, and |

| 22 | 23 | | Logan; and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Although Barbara Madden will be deeply missed, she |

| 24 | 25 | | has left her friends and loved ones with a wealth of memories that |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
