 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Students from Lufkin Middle School in Angelina
 County distinguished themselves with their exemplary performance
 in the 2017 Great Reading Games, an annual competition held by
 Learning Ally; and
 WHEREAS, Learning Ally is a nonprofit organization that
 provides educational materials for students with print
 disabilities, including dyslexia, blindness, and visual
 impairment; established in 2014, the Great Reading Games contest is
 designed to motivate these students to spend more time reading and
 to engage with texts above their grade level; during this year's
 competition, which ran from January 9 to February 28, participants
 read more than five million pages total; and
 WHEREAS, Lufkin Middle School went up against more than 1,200
 schools across the country to capture ninth place in the 2017 Great
 Reading Games, with all of the sixth, seventh, and eighth graders
 involved in the school's Learning Ally program taking part in the
 challenge; and
 WHEREAS, By placing among the top 10 in the Great Reading
 Games, these outstanding young Texans have brought credit to their
 school, and they may take justifiable pride in the considerable
 skill and perseverance they have demonstrated; now, therefore, be
 it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Lufkin Middle School on placing
 ninth in the 2017 Learning Ally Great Reading Games and extend to
 all those who participated in the competition sincere best wishes
 for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
