R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, American Quarter Horse Association Professional
Horseman Mike Major of Bowie achieved great distinction by winning
the AQHA junior ranch riding title at the World Championship Show on
November 9, 2016, at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City; and
WHEREAS, Showing Shanachie, a 2012 bay gelding, Mr. Major
outscored 64 other contestants from around the globe to capture the
world championship crown; with the victory, he earned a prize
package that included a gold trophy, a silver and gold belt buckle,
and a specially designed jacket with a world champion patch; and
WHEREAS, Mike Major has demonstrated outstanding skill and
determination in ranch riding competition, and his significant
triumph is indeed worthy of recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Mike Major on winning the American
Quarter Horse Association junior ranch riding world championship
and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Major as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
