H.R. No. 1474
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Carolyn Ramirez of Ortiz Intermediate School has
been named a 2016-2017 Secondary Teacher of the Year finalist in the
Robstown Independent School District; and
WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to
become successful and productive adults, and those men and women
who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference
in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and
WHEREAS, A physical education teacher at Ortiz Intermediate
School, Ms. Ramirez has been an educator for more than three
decades; during her 12-year tenure with Robstown ISD, she helped
establish the Runners Club, which has since grown to include over
200 members; and
WHEREAS, Carolyn Ramirez exemplifies the passion,
determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our
best teachers, and she has set a standard of excellence to which all
in her profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Carolyn Ramirez on her selection as
a 2016-2017 Secondary Teacher of the Year finalist in the Robstown
Independent School District and extend to her sincere best wishes
for continued success with her important work; and, be it further

ESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Ramirez as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
