H.R. No. 1482
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Maria E. Zuniga has been named the 2016-2017 Teacher
of the Year at West Oso Elementary School in Corpus Christi; and
WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to
become successful and productive adults, and those men and women
who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference
in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of West Oso High School, Ms. Zuniga went
on to earn a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University--Corpus
Christi; she has spent her entire 20-year career with the West Oso
Independent School District, where she currently teaches fifth
grade English language arts, reading, and social studies; and
WHEREAS, Maria Zuniga exemplifies the passion,
determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our
best teachers, and she has set a standard of excellence to which all
in her profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Maria E. Zuniga on her selection as
the 2016-2017 Teacher of the Year at West Oso Elementary School and
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success with her
important work; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Zuniga as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
