| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Amanda Salinas has been named the 2016-2017 Teacher |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to |

| 8 | 9 | | become successful and productive adults, and those men and women |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference |

| 10 | 11 | | in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and |

| 11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi |

| 12 | 13 | | with a degree in biology, Mrs. Salinas has worked at West Oso High |

| 13 | 14 | | for the past four years, teaching courses in engineering, |

| 14 | 15 | | chemistry, and anatomy and physiology; in addition to chairing the |

| 15 | 16 | | science department, she coaches the FIRST Tech Challenge robotics |

| 16 | 17 | | team and serves as a yearbook sponsor; and |

| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Amanda Salinas exemplifies the passion, |

| 18 | 19 | | determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our |

| 19 | 20 | | best teachers, and she has set a standard of excellence to which all |

| 20 | 21 | | in her profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it |
