| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Henry "Pepsi" Peña, a beloved stalwart of the San |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Enrique and Elva Peña, Henry Peña was born |

| 8 | 9 | | in Kingsville in 1947; he started a band, Henry and the Kasuals, |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | when he was a sophomore at South San Antonio High School, and the |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | following year, KUKA Radio hired him as a disc jockey for the Top |

| 11 | 12 | | Teen Tunes show; following graduation, he married his high school |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | sweetheart, Brenda, and they became the parents of three treasured |

| 13 | 14 | | children, Derek, Amanda, and Dion; with the passing years, his |

| 14 | 15 | | family has grown to include five grandchildren; and |

| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Peña worked full-time for KUKA, adding a morning |

| 16 | 17 | | drive program and ad sales to his responsibilities; he also played |

| 17 | 18 | | in the Patio Andaluz and other clubs with his band and emceed dances |

| 18 | 19 | | at the convention center and the municipal auditorium; from 1967 to |

| 19 | 20 | | 1968, he served in the United States Air Force; he subsequently |

| 20 | 21 | | hosted an American Bandstand-style program, The Pepsi Peña Show, on |

| 21 | 22 | | television station KWEX, as well as a TV talk show, Henry Peña y las |

| 22 | 23 | | Estrellas, for the Houston market; and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, In 1978, Mr. Peña pursued a second career in real |

| 24 | 25 | | estate, and he established his own company, Henry Peña Realtors; to |

| 25 | 26 | | the delight of his fans, he eventually found his way back to the |

| 26 | 27 | | music business, emceeing a Patio Andaluz reunion in 2010; five |

| 27 | 28 | | years later, he returned to radio as host of the San Antonio Oldies |

| 28 | 29 | | radio show on KEDA, which is also syndicated to 11 other stations; |

| 29 | 30 | | he has produced two more Patio Andaluz reunions at the Tobin Center |

| 30 | 31 | | to showcase local bands and highlight San Antonio music of |

| 37 | 38 | | many admirers in honoring him as he celebrates this milestone in his |
