No. 1518 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The 90th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed cause for celebration, and Virginia Mae Priefert-Foster of Mount Pleasant marked this milestone in her life on March 4, 2017; and WHEREAS, Born to Rex and Blanch Johnson in Ames, Iowa, in 1927, the former Virginia Johnson received the nickname "Johnni" from coworkers at an ice-cream parlor; she met her future husband, Marvin Priefert, at that establishment, and they married on August 17, 1945; the couple settled in Nebraska, near Mr. Priefert's relatives, and they became the proud parents of three children, Bill, Micki, and Vicki; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Priefert-Foster completed beauty school while helping to run the family wheat farm, and after relocating to Texas in 1962, she continued to work as a hair stylist; in addition, she provided invaluable support for her husband when he launched Priefert Manufacturing Company; she served as secretary as the business grew to become one of the largest manufacturers of ranch and rodeo equipment; and WHEREAS, Following the death of Mr. Priefert in 1988, she was fortunate enough to find love a second time with Jerry Foster; they married in March 2004, and she welcomed into her family his three children, Ricky and Ronnie Foster and Tina Perritt; today, Mrs. Priefert-Foster takes great pride in their 18 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; she continues to serve as vice president and director of Priefert Manufacturing Company, which is led by her son, Bill, and three of her grandsons, Eddie, Nate, and Travis; and WHEREAS, Virginia Priefert-Foster has earned the admiration and affection of countless people over the last nine decades, and she may reflect with pride on a lifetime of achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Virginia Mae Priefert-Foster on her 90th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Priefert-Foster as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
