| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Members of the Anna High School Beta Club |

| 7 | 8 | | the 57th Annual Texas Beta Club Convention, held in Frisco from |

| 8 | 9 | | February 24 to 25, 2017; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The Anna High chapter of this national honor and |

| 10 | 11 | | service organization requires members to maintain a 3.0 GPA and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | complete at least 50 hours of community service each year; all |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | participants are invited to attend the Texas Beta Club Convention, |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | where students compete in a variety of academic, art, and speech |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | contests; in recent years, the Anna Beta Club has been named a |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | National Beta School of Distinction and selected as a Golden Key |

| 16 | 17 | | Award recipient; and |

| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, A number of Anna Beta Club members took top honors |

| 18 | 19 | | for their exceptional performances at the 2017 state convention, |

| 19 | 20 | | including Michelle Larriva, who won the Mixed Media art |

| 20 | 21 | | competition, and Devin O'Neal, who earned second place in the |

| 21 | 22 | | Creative Writing Division II contest; Pamela West placed third in |

| 22 | 23 | | the Sculpture category, and Beta Club president Juan Sanchez also |

| 23 | 24 | | garnered third-place honors for his entry in the Spanish Division |

| 24 | 25 | | II category; moreover, Madison Hemenway, Kaleigh Terry, Jillian |

| 25 | 26 | | Vargas, and Melanie Hunter captured third place in the Club Trading |

| 26 | 27 | | Pin contest, and Trenten Wilson, Haley Thornburg, and Riley |

| 27 | 28 | | Stockton came in third in the Fresh Look at Beta competition; and |

| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, With their fine showing at the Texas Beta Club |

| 29 | 30 | | Convention, members of the Anna Beta Club have brought credit to |

| 30 | 31 | | their school, and they may take justifiable pride in the talent and |

| 31 | 32 | | dedication they have demonstrated; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby recognize the Anna High School Beta Club for its |
