| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Founders Day honors three families from |

| 9 | 10 | | Mississippi, those of Dr. Joseph and Sarah Pound, John and Indiana |

| 10 | 11 | | Moss, and John and Malvina Wallace, who made this area their home in |

| 11 | 12 | | 1854; early residents of the community initially engaged in |

| 12 | 13 | | subsistence farming, but by 1884 agriculture had expanded and |

| 13 | 14 | | Dripping Springs had acquired a steam gristmill and a cotton gin; |

| 14 | 15 | | the wool and mohair industry subsequently played an important role |

| 15 | 16 | | in the local economy and continued to do so into the 1970s; and |

| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Incorporated in August 1981, Dripping Springs is |

| 17 | 18 | | today a popular tourist destination, noted especially for its |

| 18 | 19 | | breweries, wineries, and distilleries; the community also hosts |

| 19 | 20 | | more than 1,000 weddings each year, and in 2015, the 84th Texas |

| 20 | 21 | | Legislature officially declared Dripping Springs the Wedding |

| 21 | 22 | | Capital of Texas; and |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Hosted by the City of Dripping Springs and the |

| 23 | 24 | | Founders Day Commission, the Founders Day celebration features a |

| 24 | 25 | | parade, a carnival, musical performances, street dances, arts and |

| 25 | 26 | | crafts displays, and cook-off competitions; proceeds directly |

| 26 | 27 | | benefit local churches, school and park programs, youth groups, and |

| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Delighting both residents and visitors alike, this |
