 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their
 memories of Oscar Gilbert Kozlowski of Kyle, who died on September
 7, 2015, at the age of 28; and
 WHEREAS, Oscar Kozlowski was born in Hinsdale, Illinois, on
 April 3, 1987, to Konrad and Grazyna Kozlowski, and he and his older
 brother, Aaron, grew up in Dublin, California; after graduating
 from high school in 2005, he answered his nation's call to duty
 during Operation Iraqi Freedom and enlisted in the U.S. Marine
 Corps; and
 WHEREAS, Trained at the U.S. Army Chemical School, Corporal
 Kozlowski served as a chemical, biological, radiological, and
 nuclear (CBRN) specialist with Combat Logistics Regiment 37 in
 Futenma, Japan, instructing other marines in CBRN defense and
 decontamination techniques, and he received commendations for his
 superior performance with Combat Logistics Battalion 4, 2nd Marine
 Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force; and
 WHEREAS, Corporal Kozlowski also worked tirelessly to train
 the 700 members of Combat Logistics Battalion 4, Combat Logistics
 Regiment 3, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, during the Mojave Viper
 exercises before their deployment to Iraq, and he served as a
 defense specialist and translator during a tour of duty in Moldova;
 his commendations included the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement
 Medal and the Good Conduct Medal; and
 WHEREAS, After returning to civilian life, Mr. Kozlowski
 moved to Kyle and majored in chemistry at Texas State University,
 where he participated in many student organizations and encouraged
 his fellow veterans to pursue higher education; in his free time, he
 enjoyed playing the piano and composing music; he was engaged to a
 fellow TSU student, Bianca Beronio, and he was the proud father of a
 son, Tyler; in December 2015, he was posthumously awarded a
 bachelor's degree in chemistry; and
 WHEREAS, A devoted family man, a proud United States Marine,
 and a self-proclaimed "born again Texan," Oscar Kozlowski embodied
 the virtues of righteousness, empathy for others, and devotion to
 duty, and he leaves behind an example of compassion and kindness
 that will continue to inspire all those who knew and loved him; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Oscar Gilbert
 Kozlowski and extend heartfelt sympathy to his family and many
 friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Oscar
 Gilbert Kozlowski.
