| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Michael Evans Sr. is stepping down as the Place 3 |

| 6 | 7 | | representative on the Mansfield Independent School District Board |

| 7 | 8 | | of Trustees in 2017, concluding an exemplary tenure that has |

| 8 | 9 | | spanned a decade; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Since first being elected to the board, Dr. Evans |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | has worked closely with parents, teachers, administrators, and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | other concerned citizens to foster a supportive and challenging |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | environment at district schools; although he may reflect with pride |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | on a job well done as a member of the Mansfield ISD board, he can |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | look forward to an equally fulfilling next phase in a noteworthy |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | career of service as he joins the Tarrant County College Board of |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Trustees; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, A native of Houston, Dr. Evans holds a bachelor's |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | degree in political science from The University of Texas at |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Arlington, a master's degree in divinity from the Texas Christian |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | University Brite Divinity School, and a doctor of ministry degree |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | from the Baylor University Truett Theological Seminary; he is the |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | founder of the BBC Educational Enrichment Corporation, which offers |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | tutoring, career exploration, and job placement services to over |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | 1,000 area young people, and he has also served as pastor of |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Bethlehem Baptist Church for more than 20 years; in all his |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | endeavors, he is blessed with the love and support of a treasured |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | family that includes his wife, Lisa, and their two children, |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | Michael and Richard; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, The people of Mansfield have benefited immeasurably |

| 30 | 31 | | from this esteemed Texan's vision and leadership, and his efforts |

| 31 | 32 | | have helped provide countless local students with a strong academic |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | foundation on which to build a bright and prosperous future; now, |

| 34 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 35 | 36 | | Legislature hereby honor Dr. Michael Evans Sr. for his service on |

| 37 | 38 | | extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
