H.R. No. 1587 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, William F. McKeon has been named president and chief executive officer of the Texas Medical Center in Houston; and WHEREAS, In 2013, Bill McKeon joined TMC as executive vice president and chief strategy and operating officer; he was instrumental in the rapid transformation of the center, designing and executing the initial elements of its strategic plan, including the TMC Innovation Institute and the TMC3 translational research campus; and WHEREAS, Mr. McKeon previously held key executive roles in a number of top companies and health care institutions, among them DuPont, Stanford University Medical Center, US Oncology, and Medtronic; in addition, he was president and chief executive officer for MicroPort Medical Company in Shanghai and Cellnovo in London; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Roger Williams University, Mr. McKeon earned a bachelor's degree in legal studies and went on to complete a master's degree at the University of San Francisco--School of Management; and WHEREAS, Bill McKeon has demonstrated a deep commitment to the mission of the Texas Medical Center and to the advancement of Houston as a dynamic center for the life sciences, and his leadership and vision are sure to prove crucial in driving further innovation and expansion; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Bill McKeon on his appointment as president and chief executive officer of the Texas Medical Center and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. McKeon as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
