| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1955, the National Merit program is a |

| 9 | 10 | | prestigious academic competition for recognition and scholarships; |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | students qualify for honors under the program by achieving top |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Qualifying Test; of the 1.6 million students who take the test each |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | year, only about 34,000 receive Letters of Commendation; and |

| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Brett and Grace |

| 15 | 16 | | Rhodes, Ms. Rhodes has served as parliamentarian of the National |

| 16 | 17 | | Honor Society, as a class representative in student government, and |

| 17 | 18 | | as a member of the Link Crew and the spiritual council; moreover, |

| 18 | 19 | | she earned the distinction of becoming the first student from the |

| 19 | 20 | | school to earn placement in a Texas Music Educators Association |

| 20 | 21 | | All-State choir, and she has received district and state-level |

| 21 | 22 | | All-Star cast recognition in the University Interscholastic League |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | One-Act Play Contest and finalist honors in the Congressional Art |

| 23 | 24 | | Competition and the Texas Association of Private and Parochial |

| 24 | 25 | | Schools State Art Competition; a gifted athlete as well, she has |
