| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Barney Flores has become an inspiring mentor for |

| 6 | 7 | | young people in the McKinney community through his work as owner of |

| 7 | 8 | | Barney and Me Boxing Gym; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Flores started coaching more than 35 years ago, |

| 9 | 10 | | and in 2001, with help from the City of McKinney, he established the |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Barney and Me Boxing Gym; offering after-school classes to children |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | between the ages of 8 and 16, he encourages his students to make |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | good decisions and to place a high priority on education; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, Mr. Flores has provided many boxing |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | lessons free of charge, and he has spent countless hours providing |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | children with transportation to and from the gym and escorting them |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | to tournaments; this important work has been supported by his wife, |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Evelyn, and by assistant coaches Shannon Wynia, Kenny McCollom, and |

| 18 | 19 | | Monette McCollom; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Through his dedicated efforts, Barney Flores has |

| 20 | 21 | | greatly benefited the youth of McKinney, and this outstanding |

| 21 | 22 | | Texan's generosity and commitment to the well-being of others make |

| 22 | 23 | | him truly worthy of recognition; now, therefore, be it |

| 23 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
