H.R. No. 1656 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the passing of Alfredo V. Garza of Corpus Christi on April 15, 2017, at the age of 73; and WHEREAS, Born to Dolores and Sandalio Garza on February 11, 1944, Fred Garza spent his formative years in the company of his siblings, Juan, Sandalio, Ruben, Angelina, Jose, and Carmen; he served his country proudly as a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and he went on to enjoy a rewarding career as a printer, working at H-E-B for more than a decade and in the City of Corpus Christi print shop for another quarter century; and WHEREAS, Mr. Garza shared 49 years of marriage with his devoted wife, Gloria, and he took great delight in spending time with his daughter, Joanne, and his grandson, Ryan; and WHEREAS, Although Fred Garza is greatly missed, this esteemed Texan has left his loved ones with many cherished memories, and he will forever hold a special place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Alfredo V. Garza and extend sincere condolences to his relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Fred Garza.
