| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Ronald H. Hufford will retire as executive director |

| 6 | 7 | | of the Texas Forestry Association on December 31, 2017, drawing to a |

| 7 | 8 | | close more than three decades of outstanding service to that |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | institution; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, After earning a bachelor's degree in forestry from |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Southern Illinois University in 1971, Mr. Hufford served his |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | country for four years as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force; he then |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | joined the Southern Forest Products Association, where he worked as |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | a field representative, as director of field services, and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | ultimately as vice president of the Forest Resources and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Environmental Division; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, In 1984, Mr. Hufford assumed the helm of the Texas |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Forestry Association, and he has excelled over the past 33 years in |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | furthering that organization's mission to promote forest |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | conservation and the forestry industry; he has also chaired the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Texas Agricultural Council, the Texas Society of Association |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Executives, and the Texas A&M Forest Science Advisory Council, and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | has served on the advisory board of the Texas Agricultural Lifetime |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Leadership Program; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Hufford's many accolades include the |

| 25 | 26 | | Distinguished Service to Forestry Award from the Texas Society of |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | American Foresters, the Bill Clements Memorial Award from Build |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | East Texas, and the Fellow Award from the Society of American |

| 28 | 29 | | Foresters; in 2015, this esteemed Texan was inducted into the Texas |

| 29 | 30 | | Forestry Hall of Fame, and in 2016, the new TFA headquarters |

| 30 | 31 | | building in Lufkin was named in his honor; and |

| 31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure as TFA executive director, Ron |

| 32 | 33 | | Hufford has brought to his myriad duties an exceptional breadth of |

| 33 | 34 | | experience and a consummate professionalism, and he may indeed |

| 34 | 35 | | reflect with pride on a career well spent as he embarks upon the |

| 35 | 36 | | next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |

| 36 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 37 | 38 | | Legislature hereby honor Ronald H. Hufford for his exemplary |

| 38 | 39 | | leadership of the Texas Forestry Association and extend to him |

| 39 | 40 | | sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
