| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Canterbury Elementary School in Edinburg has been |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program was created |

| 10 | 11 | | by the U.S. Department of Education in 1982 to recognize campuses |

| 11 | 12 | | that have demonstrated superior academic performance or made |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | notable progress in improving outcomes among economically |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | disadvantaged students; Canterbury was one of only 330 public and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | private schools nationwide and 29 schools in Texas to have earned |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | this impressive honor in 2016; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, A magnet school in the Edinburg Consolidated |

| 17 | 18 | | Independent School District, Canterbury Elementary serves more |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | than 600 young Texans from prekindergarten through fifth grade; the |

| 19 | 20 | | diverse academic environment includes gifted and talented, |

| 20 | 21 | | bilingual, migrant, at-risk, and special education students who |

| 21 | 22 | | learn through research-based, differentiated instruction; |

| 22 | 23 | | principal Dahlia Zamora Guzman leads the exceptional faculty and |
