| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Irene A. Armendariz of Austin is retiring as a |

| 6 | 7 | | member of the Texas Commission on Jail Standards on May 4, 2017, |

| 7 | 8 | | concluding nearly a decade of distinguished service to that body; |

|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Armendariz was appointed to TCJS by Governor |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Rick Perry in October 2007, and throughout her tenure, she played a |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | vital role in advancing the agency's mission of establishing |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | standards for the care and treatment of prisoners and for the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | construction, maintenance, and operation of county and municipal |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | jails; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, An alumna of the University of Phoenix, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Ms. Armendariz has also enjoyed a fulfilling career in the health |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | care industry; she currently serves as senior vice president of |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | operations for Cenpatico Behavioral Health and as a member of the |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | board of Superior HealthPlan; she has further benefited her |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | community through her efforts on the board of the Greater El Paso |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Chamber of Commerce and the allocation committee of the United Way |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | of El Paso County; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Irene Armendariz has served the State of Texas with |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | great skill and dedication, and she may take justifiable pride in |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | her many accomplishments as she embarks on the next exciting |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | chapter of her life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 28 | 29 | | Legislature hereby commend Irene A. Armendariz for her service as a |

| 29 | 30 | | member of the Texas Commission on Jail Standards and extend to her |

| 30 | 31 | | sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
