 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Kacy Metcalf of Girl Scout Troop No. 1161 in
 McKinney has attained the Girl Scout Gold Award, and this
 accomplishment truly merits recognition; and
 WHEREAS, To earn this distinction, Ms. Metcalf successfully
 met a series of requirements emphasizing community service,
 personal and spiritual growth, positive values, and leadership
 skills; as part of that process, she planned and implemented a Girl
 Scout Gold Award project that involved building birdhouses for the
 Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary in McKinney,
 giving presentations, and generally raising community awareness on
 how to provide food and shelter for bird species threatened by loss
 of habitat; and
 WHEREAS, The daughter of David and Jean Metcalf, Ms. Metcalf
 has further distinguished herself through her participation in such
 extracurricular activities as robotics competitions, powder puff
 derby, and the Legacy 4-H Club, which she has led as first vice
 president; moreover, she earned the gold-level President's
 Volunteer Service Award in 2017; and
 WHEREAS, By fostering self-confidence and by encouraging
 young women to explore career opportunities and to become more
 socially conscious, the Girl Scout program is helping its
 participants to achieve their greatest potential as engaged
 citizens and leaders; and
 WHEREAS, The maturity and dedication that Ms. Metcalf has
 demonstrated in pursuit of her goals truly exemplify the highest
 ideals of the Girl Scouts, and she may indeed reflect with pride on
 a job well done; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Kacy Metcalf on her receipt of the
 Girl Scout Gold Award and extend to her sincere best wishes for
 continued success and happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Metcalf as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
