45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, American Heritage Girl troops from across Texas are
67 gathering in Austin on May 18, 2017, to celebrate American Heritage
78 Girls Day at the State Capitol; and
89 WHEREAS, For more than two decades, American Heritage Girls
910 has sought to build women of integrity through service to God,
1011 family, community, and country; girls ages 5 through 18 may
1112 participate in activities that promote teamwork and build
1213 confidence and also encourage spiritual, character, and social
1314 development; furthermore, the organization strives to help girls
1415 acquire life skills through a badge program that includes such
1516 subjects as personal well-being, the arts, and science and
1617 technology; and
1718 WHEREAS, American Heritage Girls boasts membership in all 50
1819 states and overseas with approximately 125 troops in Texas
1920 representing cities and counties across the Lone Star State; and
2021 WHEREAS, By fostering faith and courage and inspiring young
2122 women to achieve their greatest potential as engaged citizens and
2223 leaders, American Heritage Girls is enriching countless lives, and
2324 the group is indeed deserving of special recognition; now,
2425 therefore, be it
2526 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
2627 Legislature hereby recognize May 18, 2017, as American Heritage
2728 Girls Day at the State Capitol and extend to the visiting delegation
2829 sincere best wishes for an informative and enjoyable stay in
2930 Austin.
