45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt at
67 the loss of Christina Susanne Lane of Corpus Christi, who died on
78 April 9, 2017, at the age of 34; and
89 WHEREAS, Christina Lane was born in Corpus Christi on October
910 14, 1982, to Paula Davis Clark and Richard Scott Lane, and she grew
1011 up on Padre Island, where she learned to love the outdoor life; when
1112 she was 11, her family moved to Bastrop, and she was an active
1213 member of the United Methodist Youth Fellowship at First United
1314 Methodist Church; she graduated from Bastrop High School in 2001;
1415 and
1516 WHEREAS, In 2005, Ms. Lane received her bachelor's degree in
1617 kinesiology and business at Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi,
1718 and she went on to earn teaching credentials and certifications in
1819 physical education, health, business, and special education; while
1920 attending Texas A&M, Ms. Lane met and fell in love with Cynee
2021 Villarreal, and the couple were married in November 2014; and
2122 WHEREAS, In her roles as a teacher and as the head varsity
2223 coach for girls' softball at West Oso High School, Ms. Lane was an
2324 inspiring mentor, and she tried to instill in her players not only a
2425 love of the game but also integrity and self-confidence; she was
2526 also a licensed fishing captain and guide and the owner of Sea Lane
2627 Outdoors, and she enjoyed participating in fishing tournaments; and
2728 WHEREAS, While Christina Lane's life ended far too soon, her
2829 bright spirit will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and
2930 loved her; now, therefore, be it
3031 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
3132 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Christina Susanne
3233 Lane and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of her family: to
3334 her wife, Cynee-Marie Villarreal-Lane; to her mother, Paula Davis
3435 Clark; to her aunt, Pam Franks; to her uncles, Robert Franks, John
3536 L. Davis Sr., and Frank Davis Jr.; to her cousins, John L. Davis
3637 Jr., Justin and Kaitlyn Franks, and David Franks; and to her other
3738 relatives and many friends; and, be it further
3839 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3940 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4041 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Christina
4142 Lane.
