 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The film team of Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial Early
 College High School earned the state championship title in the
 Division 2 Documentary category of the 2017 University
 Interscholastic League State Film Contest; and
 WHEREAS, The team members distinguished themselves among the
 competition with their original film, For Gomez, which pays tribute
 to the life of former PSJA Memorial theater director Robert Gomez
 Jr., who passed away in September 2016 following a battle with
 cancer; during his tenure at the school, this beloved educator led
 students to the state finals in the UIL One-Act Play competition
 seven times, and his influence has left an indelible mark on the
 school and on the surrounding community; and
 WHEREAS, Ably guided by theater director Gabriel Ramirez and
 assistant theater director Christina Vela, the members of the film
 team are Vanessa Iracheta, Kristina Cantu, Jorge Molina, Luis
 Garza, and Amanda Ramirez; and
 WHEREAS, With their fine showing in the 2017 UIL State Film
 Contest, these outstanding young Texans have brought credit to
 themselves and to their school, and they may take justifiable pride
 in the impressive results of their hard work; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the PSJA Memorial Early College
 High School film team on winning the state championship title in the
 Division 2 Documentary category at the 2017 UIL State Film Contest
 and extend to all those associated with the team sincere best wishes
 for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
