| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Carol Lala of Victoria is retiring from the Goliad |

| 6 | 7 | | Independent School District on May 26, 2017, drawing to a close an |

| 7 | 8 | | exemplary career in education that has spanned four and a half |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | decades; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Lala earned her teaching degree from Sam |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Houston State University in 1972, and later that year, she joined |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | the faculty at Goliad Elementary School, embarking on what would |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | become a long and rewarding tenure with the district; a designated |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | bilingual instructor, she has transitioned easily between teaching |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | kindergarten and first grade, always willing to serve where she was |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | most needed; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding educator has demonstrated an |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | unyielding commitment to academic excellence, as well as a genuine |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | concern for the well-being of her current and former students, who |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | often seek her out within the community years after leaving her |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | classroom; furthermore, she has gained the lasting respect and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | admiration of her colleagues, to whom she has been a valued source |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | of wisdom and guidance; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Lala enjoys the love and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | support of her husband, Dennis, and she is the proud mother of two |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | daughters, Tiffany and Windy; in retirement, she looks forward to |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | traveling and spending time with her family; and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Carol Lala embodies the compassion, dedication, and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | spirit of service that are the hallmarks of a good teacher, and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | though her presence will surely be missed at Goliad ISD, she may |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | reflect with pride on the positive difference she has made in the |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | lives of countless young Texans; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Carol Lala on her retirement from |

| 34 | 35 | | the Goliad Independent School District and extend to her sincere |
