5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Residents of Comal County are mourning the loss of |

6 | 7 | | admired community leader Robbi Boone of Canyon Lake, who died on |

7 | 8 | | April 21, 2017, at the age of 75; and |
---|
8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, the former Roberta Harris |
---|
9 | 10 | | attended Northwestern University in Evanston and earned a master's |
---|
10 | 11 | | degree in educational administration; she shared her love of |
---|
11 | 12 | | teaching with her husband, Dan Boone, with whom she enjoyed more |
---|
12 | 13 | | than 30 years of marriage before his passing in December 2016; the |
---|
13 | 14 | | couple were the devoted parents of four children, Angela, Darcy, |
---|
14 | 15 | | Todd, and Carrie, three of whom joined them in the teaching |
---|
15 | 16 | | profession, and they also took great pride in their four |
---|
16 | 17 | | grandchildren; and |
---|
17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Following her retirement, Ms. Boone settled with |
---|
18 | 19 | | her husband at Canyon Lake Ranch, where they operated several |
---|
19 | 20 | | businesses, including a bed-and-breakfast; they both became deeply |
---|
20 | 21 | | involved in the political life of Comal County, and Ms. Boone |
---|
21 | 22 | | served as president of the Democrats of Comal County and later as |
---|
22 | 23 | | chair of the Comal County Democratic Party; she seldom backed down |
---|
23 | 24 | | from the challenge of advancing progressive causes and candidates |
---|
24 | 25 | | in a Republican-dominated county, and the task of mobilizing voter |
---|
25 | 26 | | support brought out her natural ability to lead and motivate |
---|
26 | 27 | | others; she also served as first vice president of the Texas |
---|
27 | 28 | | Democratic County Chairs Association and supported her husband in |
---|
28 | 29 | | his own campaigns for office; and |
---|
29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, This dynamic woman loved her adopted state and was |
---|
30 | 31 | | active in many organizations over the years, and in her free time, |
---|
31 | 32 | | she nurtured a lifelong interest in art by drawing and painting |
---|
32 | 33 | | professionally; kind and generous, she had a positive outlook that |
---|
33 | 34 | | was contagious and that galvanized everyone around her to do the |
---|
34 | 35 | | best that they could to achieve their goals; and |
---|
35 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Robbi Boone was unyielding in fighting for the |
---|
36 | 37 | | causes in which she believed, and although her loss is keenly felt, |
---|
37 | 38 | | her passionate engagement in the world will forever inspire all |
---|
38 | 39 | | those who were privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it |
---|
39 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

40 | 41 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Robbi Boone and extend |

41 | 42 | | heartfelt condolences to the members of her family: to her |

42 | 43 | | children, Angela Boone, Darcy Lessel and her husband, Jeff, Todd |

43 | 44 | | Silberman and his wife, Carolyn, and Carrie Silberman; to her |

44 | 45 | | grandchildren, Molly, Samuel, Claire, and Elizabeth; to her sister, |
