45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Rise Academy in Lubbock has been named a National
67 Title I Distinguished School by the Texas Education Agency; and
78 WHEREAS, The prestigious award is given to Title I schools
89 that meet high academic performance criteria and that serve a
910 significant number of low-income students; Rise Academy is one of
1011 only two campuses in the state to receive the honor for this
1112 academic year; and
1213 WHEREAS, The independent public charter school was founded in
1314 September 1999 by Richard Baumgartner, who continues to lead the
1415 school as its director; it serves approximately 275 students from
1516 prekindergarten through eighth grade, many of whom reside in East
1617 and Northeast Lubbock neighborhoods; and
1718 WHEREAS, For almost two decades, Rise Academy teachers and
1819 staff, along with dedicated parents, have worked tirelessly to
1920 ensure that students of every demographic and socioeconomic
2021 background at the school receive an education of the highest
2122 quality; now, therefore, be it
2223 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
2324 Legislature hereby congratulate Rise Academy in Lubbock on its
2425 selection as a National Title I Distinguished School and extend
2526 sincere best wishes to the school's leaders, teachers, and staff
2627 for continued success; and, be it further
2728 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2829 prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2930 House of Representatives.
