| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Our communities draw immeasurable strength from |

| 6 | 7 | | civic-minded individuals like Eva Sandoval Bonilla, whose tireless |

| 7 | 8 | | efforts in behalf of her fellow Texans have contributed |

| 8 | 9 | | significantly to the quality of life in Fort Worth and beyond; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Bonilla embarked on her lifelong mission of |

| 10 | 11 | | serving the greater good at the age of 14, when she became the first |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Latina Candy Striper at John Peter Smith County Hospital; that same |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | year, she also started volunteering at a United Way day-care |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | center, and by the time she was 23, she had begun serving on her |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | first board of directors; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has held the position of vice |

| 16 | 17 | | president of the national board of directors of MANA, A National |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Latina Organization, and she has helped raise more than $1 million |

| 18 | 19 | | for the MANA Hermanitas program, which now benefits college-bound |

| 19 | 20 | | Latinas in four cities across the state; she has also chaired the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Fort Worth chapter of the Hispanic Women's Network of Texas, and she |

| 21 | 22 | | was instrumental in the creation of the network's Latinas in |

| 22 | 23 | | Progress program for high school seniors as well as ArtSi, an art |

| 23 | 24 | | show that raises funds for the LIP Education and Scholarship |

| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Bonilla has further given back as chair of the |

| 26 | 27 | | Linwood Neighborhood Association and as a member of the boards of |

| 27 | 28 | | Fort Worth Sister Cities International and the Women's Center, and |

| 28 | 29 | | she has held membership on several committees of the Fort Worth |

| 29 | 30 | | Independent School District; furthermore, she is a lead volunteer |

| 30 | 31 | | for the AARP and a certified long-term care trainer and teacher for |

| 31 | 32 | | the association's Decide. Create. Share. program, and she helps |

| 32 | 33 | | lead the Safe Kids Coalition for Tarrant County as vice president; |

| 34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, In recognition of her outstanding work, Ms. Bonilla |

| 35 | 36 | | has been named the Acting with the Stars Champion for the 2017 Stage |

| 36 | 37 | | West fund-raiser, the 2016 Mujer Poderosa/Strong Latina for the |

| 37 | 38 | | City of Fort Worth, the 2014 Fort Worth Neighbor of the Year, and |

| 38 | 39 | | the 2014 AARP Outstanding Volunteer in Texas; moreover, she has |

| 39 | 40 | | been presented with the President's Awards from the national board |

| 40 | 41 | | of MANA and HWNT, along with numerous additional accolades; and |

| 41 | 42 | | WHEREAS, Through her myriad altruistic endeavors, Eva |

| 42 | 43 | | Bonilla has demonstrated a lasting commitment to making Fort Worth |

| 43 | 44 | | an even better place in which to live, and she has indeed earned the |

| 44 | 45 | | respect and gratitude of countless residents of the Lone Star |
