| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Cesar Chavez Elementary School in Fort Worth is |

| 6 | 7 | | celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2017; and |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Since opening its doors in 2002, Cesar Chavez |

| 8 | 9 | | Elementary has built a notable record of scholastic achievement; in |

| 9 | 10 | | addition to continually meeting standards set forth by the Texas |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Education Agency, the school earned distinction for English |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | language arts and reading in 2013 and for academic growth and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | progress in 2014; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Ably guided by principal Monica Ordaz, the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | institution is dedicated to offering students a dynamic curriculum |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | that not only prepares them for the challenges and opportunities of |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | tomorrow but also promotes creative thinking and a lifelong love of |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | learning; the school is in its second year of implementing Project |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Lead the Way, which encourages students to develop an understanding |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | of the computer science, engineering, and biomedical science fields |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | while improving their ability to solve problems and work as part of |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | a team; moreover, Cesar Chavez is the only elementary school in the |

| 22 | 23 | | Fort Worth Independent School District to include classes in |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | glasswork, ceramics, oil painting, and murals; and |

| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, The school's faculty and staff have successfully |

| 25 | 26 | | nurtured excellence in a number of extracurricular activities, with |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | many of their students garnering special recognition in the arts, |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | including placing first in the University Interscholastic League |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | music memory contest; the campus also supports three dance teams, |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | including lyrical and hip-hop, ballroom, and adult ballroom, as |

| 30 | 31 | | well as a host of academic and athletic clubs; and |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, For a decade and a half, Cesar Chavez Elementary has |

| 32 | 33 | | provided many young Texans with a strong educational foundation, |

| 33 | 34 | | and it is indeed a pleasure to honor the school on this milestone |

| 34 | 35 | | occasion; now, therefore, be it |

| 35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 36 | 37 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 15th anniversary of Cesar Chavez |
