45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
67 passing of Sandra Herman Valls of Port Aransas on December 31, 2016,
78 at the age of 75; and
89 WHEREAS, The daughter of Dorothy Sue Herman and Francis L.
910 Herman Jr., the former Sandra Herman was born in Owensboro,
1011 Kentucky, on August 21, 1941; she was raised in Ingleside and Corpus
1112 Christi and graduated from W. B. Ray High School; while attending
1213 Del Mar College, Ms. Herman met Richard Valls, whom she married on
1314 June 17, 1961; the couple became the proud parents of four children,
1415 Linda Marie, Cerise, Richard, and Laurence, and with the passing
1516 years, their family grew to include eight treasured grandchildren;
1617 and
1718 WHEREAS, Ms. Valls was instrumental in the success of the
1819 family businesses, and, after raising her children, she earned a
1920 bachelor's degree from Corpus Christi State University; a devout
2021 Catholic, this esteemed Texan possessed a genuine concern for the
2122 welfare of others, which was evident in her active participation in
2223 numerous civic and charitable organizations; when she was not busy
2324 being a nurturing mother, devoted "Gigi" to her grandchildren, and
2425 trusted friend, she enjoyed indulging her adventurous spirit and
2526 passion for learning through travel, reading, and a deep
2627 appreciation of art; and
2728 WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share in Sandra Valls's
2829 love and friendship will always remember her with great tenderness
2930 and affection; now, therefore, be it
3031 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
3132 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Sandra Herman Valls
3233 and that sincere sympathy be extended to the members of her family:
3334 to her husband, Richard Valls; to her children, Linda Marie Valls,
3435 Cerise Valls Weeks and her husband, Jason, Richard R. Valls Jr. and
3536 his wife, Brenda, and Laurence A. W. Valls and his wife, Tiffany; to
3637 her grandchildren, Austin and Avery Valls, Morgan, Richard, and
3738 Winston Weeks, and Roselyn, Riley, and Reese Valls; to her brother,
3839 Richard Herman; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it
3940 further
4041 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4142 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4243 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Sandra
4344 Herman Valls.
