45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The Hardin County Angels of Care, a nonprofit
67 organization in Lumberton, will host its second annual Back the
78 Badge luncheon at the Lumberton Dome on July 19, 2017; and
89 WHEREAS, Formed in 2009 by executive director Faye Alston and
910 a group of like-minded individuals, the Hardin County Angels of
1011 Care is committed to helping area children who have medical needs by
1112 offsetting expenses, including medical equipment, surgeries, and
1213 travel and hotel costs associated with their treatment; in 2016,
1314 the organization added to its mission of service by holding its
1415 first free luncheon for members of law enforcement; and
1516 WHEREAS, The Back the Badge event provides the community with
1617 a way to give thanks to and show support for police officers, fire
1718 personnel, emergency medical responders, dispatchers, district and
1819 county attorneys, game wardens, and others who dedicate their
1920 careers to public service and safety; and
2021 WHEREAS, By promoting peace, keeping offenders off the
2122 streets, or putting themselves in harm's way to save lives, these
2223 dedicated individuals demonstrate the meaning of heroism, and they
2324 are indeed deserving of their fellow citizens' profound respect and
2425 gratitude; now, therefore, be it
2526 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
2627 Legislature hereby recognize July 19, 2017, as Back the Badge Day in
2728 Hardin County and honor the first responders and public service
2829 personnel of Hardin County for their vital work; and, be it further
2930 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3031 prepared for the Hardin County Angels of Care as an expression of
3132 high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
