| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Hardin County Angels of Care, a nonprofit |

| 6 | 7 | | organization in Lumberton, will host its second annual Back the |

| 7 | 8 | | Badge luncheon at the Lumberton Dome on July 19, 2017; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Formed in 2009 by executive director Faye Alston and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | a group of like-minded individuals, the Hardin County Angels of |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Care is committed to helping area children who have medical needs by |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | offsetting expenses, including medical equipment, surgeries, and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | travel and hotel costs associated with their treatment; in 2016, |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | the organization added to its mission of service by holding its |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | first free luncheon for members of law enforcement; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The Back the Badge event provides the community with |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | a way to give thanks to and show support for police officers, fire |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | personnel, emergency medical responders, dispatchers, district and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | county attorneys, game wardens, and others who dedicate their |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | careers to public service and safety; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, By promoting peace, keeping offenders off the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | streets, or putting themselves in harm's way to save lives, these |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | dedicated individuals demonstrate the meaning of heroism, and they |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | are indeed deserving of their fellow citizens' profound respect and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | gratitude; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby recognize July 19, 2017, as Back the Badge Day in |

| 27 | 28 | | Hardin County and honor the first responders and public service |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | personnel of Hardin County for their vital work; and, be it further |

| 29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 30 | 31 | | prepared for the Hardin County Angels of Care as an expression of |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
