No. 2137 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, George Ann Voss has been presented with a Superstar Award from the Student Support Services--STEM program at Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi; and WHEREAS, SSS-STEM is part of the university's Programs for Academic Student Support (PASS) initiative, which furthers the goals of TAMU--CC by providing resources to low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented students; in receiving a Superstar Award, Ms. Voss was recognized for helping other students, demonstrating exceptional leadership, and participating in a variety of campus and program activities; and WHEREAS, A native of San Antonio, Ms. Voss received an associate degree in liberal arts from San Antonio College; she is currently a senior at TAMU--CC and will graduate with a bachelor's degree in nursing in May 2017; she is also an ROTC cadet and serves as a mentor for her fellow ROTC nursing students; moreover, she has helped lead two nursing classes at TAMU--CC as a student instructor, and she holds membership in the Golden Key International Honour Society and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing; this outstanding young Texan has earned admission to the Washington State University Doctor of Nursing Practice--Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program, and in August 2017, she will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps; and WHEREAS, George Ann Voss is indeed deserving of this prestigious honor, and she may look forward to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate George Ann Voss on her receipt of an SSS-STEM Superstar Award and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Voss as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
