| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Irving is |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A social and spiritual Hindu organization, |

| 9 | 10 | | Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha, or |

| 10 | 11 | | BAPS, was established by Shastriji Maharaj in 1907; it is based on |

| 11 | 12 | | the teachings of Bhagwan Swaminarayan, who lived from 1781 to 1830; |

| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, BAPS addresses the myriad challenges of today's |

| 14 | 15 | | world, conducting its humanitarian work through a worldwide network |

| 15 | 16 | | of nearly 4,000 centers; it encourages adherents to lead upright, |

| 16 | 17 | | honest lives and to contribute to the greater good by volunteering |

| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Members of the Mandir in Irving find daily |

| 19 | 20 | | inspiration in the legacy of Shastriji Maharaj, who illuminated the |

| 20 | 21 | | wisdom and knowledge passed down through the ages in Hindu |

| 21 | 22 | | scriptures and devoted his life to the timeless principles of |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Irving provides |

| 25 | 26 | | is indeed fitting to recognize its positive role in the community; |
