 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family, friends, and colleagues are mourning the
 loss of Linda Cottar of Baytown, who passed away on May 10, 2017, at
 the age of 71; and
 WHEREAS, Born on August 20, 1945, in Corsicana, the former
 Linda Matthews was the daughter of Arvine and Anita Matthews; an
 alumna of Corsicana High School, she went on to graduate from Lee
 College in 1965 before beginning a career as a Realtor and broker in
 the Baytown area that would span more than 40 years; along the way,
 she served as a teacher and mentor to numerous others during her
 time as a real estate instructor at San Jacinto College and Kaplan
 Professional Schools, and she further served her professional
 community as part of HAR's Bay Area Political Affairs Leadership
 advisory group; moreover, she was a longtime board member for the
 Baytown Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Pilot Club of
 Baytown, a community service organization; and
 WHEREAS, Deeply committed to her faith, Ms. Cottar was a
 member of First Baptist Church Pasadena and taught Sunday school
 for over 25 years at Cedar Bayou Baptist Church; alongside her in
 all her endeavors was her husband of more than 50 years, Tom Cottar,
 and she cherished her role as a loving mother to their two sons, Tom
 and Shae, and a doting grandmother to their six grandchildren,
 Aidan, Darien, Olivia, Dylan, Evan, and Makayla; Ms. Cottar's life
 was further enriched by the affection and companionship of a host of
 dear friends, to whom she was always willing to lend a helping hand
 when needed; and
 WHEREAS, Beloved for her kindness, her strength, and her
 generosity of spirit, Linda Cottar touched the lives of many during
 her journey on this earth, and all who were blessed to know her will
 forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Linda Cottar and
 extend sincere sympathy to her many relatives and friends; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Linda
 Cottar.
